Today I ask you, could you bath in your bedroom? Or do you need to be in a separate room to do so? This beautiful image has inspired me to rethink my views.
wow... thats super fab. I've never seen anything like this.
I have seen bathrooms in bedrooms with not very high walls.. and no ceiling...
Hey.. in Kenya (at the Fairmont), I've seen open bathroom.. with walls on either side... attached to your room. I'm not sure if I explained it well enough.. Let me see if I can find a pic..
Hi. I have always loved this photo! I have it saved in my file folder. I wanted to say thanks for stopping by my blog and leaving such nice comments.I am going to add you to my blogroll. Daisy~
This bedroom I could definately bath in! Wow, I love it! It would make a great back yard room, guest house, pool house. I don't have any of these, but they sounds great to me. :) KIM
I have never before thought twice. But the relaxed atmosphere, chandelier, and vintage tub...I think it can, but rarely, work beautifully. Great blog! cheers, Chloe.
I've stayed in Bed & Breakfasts before that have the bathtub in the main room. They used to have tubs in the kitchen, so why not the bedroom. At least it more private than the kitchen. I love the way the room looks, bathtub or no bathtub.
I wouldn't normally, but this has such a great and feminine feel to it. You could imagine sitting there of an evening with candles burning and a glass of bubbles. Not sure I could see my fiance in that room though!
When I lived in UK, we had a bit clawfoot bath that was open plan to our bedroom. I loved it - the only problem was the steam damaged some art work in our room.
Yes, I think that's Lyn Gardner's bedroom? Not sure if that's how you spell her name. She has beautiful taste and I always love her rooms. No way could I imagine bathing in my bedroom. I can see my four year old drowning us all in the splashes! Still, it's a gorgeous image.
I think it could be done. But only if your room is big and light and the bath has plenty of space around it. Our friends have a gorgeous 7 bedroom house in the south of France. The parents have a large bedroom taking up nearly a whole floor. The windows are light and look over a wood and the bedroom is simple.. They have a beautiful bath in the middle of their room. I could bath in that!
oh this is the girl from empire... lyn gardner ? love her work...amazing... i dream of one day going down to melbourne and booking into one of her vintage tours... but i really could never have a bath in my bedroom...really need a separate space...
Well, a WHOLE bathroom in my bedroom, no thank you! But a soak in a claw-foot tub such as this right in the privacy of my own bedroom, YES, thank you very much!
I think the room is beautiful, i adore the lights, the floorboards and the bath is fabulous.... Unfortunately my bedroom/bathroom doesn't look like this!!??
ohh wow I could so just sleep in the tub and fill it with water wait is that safe! haha oh well what else would a mermaid do! Come by and check out a sea swap I am host! its for home decor big mermaid hugs toodles- sarah p.s. here is the link to the swap on my blog: http://gypsymermaidlife.blogspot.com/2009/05/majestic-sea-swap.html
This is a gorgeous room but....NO WAY, I definitely could not combine the two rooms! Interesting question though! Simone :) PS I tagged you in my blog today Simone :)
Oh... I love it. How I wish I were relaxing in that clawfoot tub now. *sigh* But in all honesty I wouldn't want my bath tub in my bedroom. But maybe for a weekend get-away- I think would love it.
It's adorable but if I had that porcelain tub in my room it would be for decorative purposes only. Maybe fill it with cushions and pillows and make it a chair or storage? It's too out in the open in comparison with what I'm used to, and also, what do you do about the splashing all over your bedroom? :)
Thanks for all these great comments. Now I am not so sure if this is a bedroom or bathroom, whatever it is I adore it. And yes, this is Lyn Gardner's home from Empire Vintage in Melbourne. Stunning. Simone xx
I think I'd keep a shower for all the practical everyday stuff, but for lolling around in beautiful bath oils, eating nice chocolates and reading an inspiring book - well this would be perfect for that - is there a cup holder somewhere? That would be essential! t.x
I really LOVE this room, but I definetively LOVE Lyn Gardeners Style and I think, this room is so romantic and female - love love love it! Sunny greetings from germany, geisslein
hmmm, I've seen this before, love it but can't imagine doing it, isn't it the girl from Melbourne with the shabby vintage shop and the big hair?
ReplyDeletehow divine is this room-we have a clawfoot bath.....there wonderful.

ReplyDeleteAre you sure that's a bathtub in the bedroom? Or is it a bed in the bathroom! Either way, I prefer my privacy, thank you!

OH MY GOSH! I just found your blog, and it's official- I have found heaven! You have a wonderful blog!
ReplyDeleteI don't like to combine these functions. So, yes I need to be in a separate room. I looks kind of nice, but the tub to me just feels displaced.

ReplyDeleteWhy that may well be a living room with the sofa in it! :)

ReplyDeleteThe room looks beautiful, but I just cannot imagine bathing in my bedroom (or sleeping in my bathroom!)

I agree ... it's a glorious room, but I'd rather see it divided between bed/bath.
ReplyDeleteits very romantic and i COULD..but i think i would need other options too. paint a floor white though and you have me.
ReplyDeleteThat room looks beautiful and maybe that would make bathtime more romantic and relaxing!!
ReplyDeleteoh this is the girl from empire... lyn gardner ?

ReplyDeletelovely picture, i'd love to have this too!

ReplyDeleteSimone :)
PS I tagged you in my blog today Simone :)
I have always been enchanted by the idea but when it comes down to it I am not sure I could do it but it would be a reason to keep tidy!
ReplyDeleteOh... I love it. How I wish I were relaxing in that clawfoot tub now. *sigh* But in all honesty I wouldn't want my bath tub in my bedroom. But maybe for a weekend get-away- I think would love it.
ReplyDeleteOh wow, I wouldn't mind bathing in a bath tub if it was in a room like that! Beautiful! xoxo
ReplyDeleteWhile I love that room, I don't think I could live like that. It would be great for a bed & breakfast type of weekend though.
ReplyDeletethat looks so refreshing!!
ReplyDeleteIt's a beautiful photo but I need the separation. What I wouldn't do for that chandelier though.

I have to weigh in with a no. Even though it's pretty this is the one area where I would vote for function over form (rare for me).
ReplyDeleteBeautiful post!!!
ReplyDeleteOoo I love the idea! What fun for a guest room too!
ReplyDeleteThanks for all these great comments. Now I am not so sure if this is a bedroom or bathroom, whatever it is I adore it. And yes, this is Lyn Gardner's home from Empire Vintage in Melbourne. Stunning. Simone xx

I love this room.. I think maybe at vacation cottage or something but I don't think I'd like that for the everyday.
ReplyDeleteI think if it was a holiday home I would go for it but my own home no, love the picture though.
ReplyDeleteLovely as usual!
ReplyDeleteYour absolutely gorgeous blog is mentioned on Watercolors this morning!!
xo Laura
I have often thought about a bathtub in the bedroom. This one looks particularly inviting!
ReplyDeleteLove your blog!
I think I'd keep a shower for all the practical everyday stuff, but for lolling around in beautiful bath oils, eating nice chocolates and reading an inspiring book - well this would be perfect for that - is there a cup holder somewhere? That would be essential! t.x
ReplyDeleteI DO have a slipper bath in my bedroom!
ReplyDeleteNiki
DEFENITELY SEPARATED...Or a big bedroom with a bathroom but always a wall on between!
ReplyDeleteI really LOVE this room, but I definetively LOVE Lyn Gardeners Style and I think, this room is so romantic and female - love love love it! Sunny greetings from germany, geisslein
