Project Day: $5 Chairs + Vintage Tablecloth

When I saw these chairs at the dump for $5 each I couldn't resist them. At first there were 6 but my little sister grabbed 4 before I could get there first! The seats were scratched to bits from a cat I think. But they had such great bones. Enter a $6 vintage tablecloth in my favourite shade of pink. I simply unscrewed the base of the seats. Cut the tablecloth in half. Thumb tacked it securely underneath each base (this can be tricky so take your time) and re-attached the seats. I am very happy with the outcome. So now they are headed straight for my dining table as a few of my older chairs have passed away of late. Have a great weekend everyone. Simone xx

  4. You are so clever! You make it all sound so simple - but I'd bet I'd fumble around. They look fab pink (they even were sweet before) but you bought them up beautifully! You should gather all these tips into a book Simone! I'd buy it for sure!

  28. Thanks for stopping by. Great chair project. Love the PINK seats. I do the same for my chairs and drape cloth napkins on top so if my kids spill it's easier to wash the napkin than to spot clean or change out the chair cover. I also made some waterproof slipcovers that work well with young kids in the house! Love the chippey farm table in your previous post from Coastal Living. Imperfect, so no worries! All the WHITE is spectacular in that photo!

  46. What a great, economical project! Don't you just hate sisterly competition haha. Why didn't you want to replace the cushion/batting inside while you had the seat unscrewed? Maybe I'm just a germaphobe because of allergies...
