Hi Simone, Great post, I'm with you...I love the fish print! Goodness, what great eye candy, I just love vintage advertising. My mom used to work for Catalina years ago, I wish she would have kept some of the literature!xoxoKaryn
I'll go for the last one in the yellow trunks holding the volleyball! Today's market gives our guys way too little credit. I know from my own 17 yr old guy that today's Man would like a little individualism that the market does not give him. He's all about brands like "Tom's" shoes and other labels that are more custom in nature. Who wants to look like everyone else? But then, he is my son! Most of his friends strive to be clones of one another.XOXO Kim
Oh, I SO agree! :)
I seriously can't pick! They all look fine to me. I love vintage bathers as well for males and females. They fit the body better.Do you watch Mad Men Simone? That is great for the fashions! And you are most wise to steer clear of Twitter! Don't go there! xx
This reminds me of the movie Gidget! ;)
Remember Elvis's white trunks in "Fun in Acapulco" ??
What is with the gut beside fish guy....looks like he is hiding something...perhaps he is pregnant???I think my favorite is the snorkeler...he is really "packen'"PS great blog!!
I'm thinking the fish bathers are my pick too. Funny how those old styles are coming back....!Clare x
Ticks the boxes for me! (well, nearly....)Irene X
I always like reading your blog Simone but this made me laugh out loud. I like the third one in the top row with the polka dots just because it looks like a man-girdle. Funny!
they reminds me my young dad at the beah!! the 4th of the 2 row is cool :))
Oh my! I did not know there was anything like this!! I agree....they should bring them back! Take care, Caroline
I think I will have to go for the fish print too I love it but some of the others are a bit scarey!!!
definitely the fish print, or the middle one, bottom row (blue print bermuda shorts).
I love two..the one with the green shades and the one with the funky straw hat. They all seem to go to the same gym and have the same trainer.
O I love this and completely agree! My fav's the fisherman. My husband's a fisherman so I'm sweet on them.
This is adorable! You like the first one and I like the last one, the sunny yellow. It actually reminds me of the bottom of a bathing suit I saw my Mom wearing in an old photo from the 40's (wish so much they'd bring THOSE back!).
i am going with the top middle, the one with his arms crossed. it says he is highly uncomfortable, which is probably a good thing.
Oh i would definitely take the aqua shorts.... Very very nice!!
Seriously! Do they make 'em like they used to?
I think I'd have a agree with you on the fish trunks! What would make the picture even better is that they were all real men instead of a drawing of men.
Are we picking the trunks or the man? Do we even say trunks anymore?
the fish print is cool but the length is just too short.. guess i am use to the longer length.. at least that's how its here in the states.
I'm with you - I like the fish pants dude best. I think #10 is Jethro on Beverly Hillbillies!!!
I'll take the one next to him! Great post! XOXO, luann
Oh they're all gorgeous and the swimming trunks too! They were all so fit and lean back then! ... and that's my professional opinion. I was a Dietitian in a previous life... before I became addicted to red wine and chocolate. A-M xx
Can I get a whoot whoot...see me pumpin my arm!!The fish pants...ya he'll do!!
Oh I love your posts Simone. I like the fish ones too!
oh Yes bring back vintage men & the 40s style every one dressed so classy, I have to say the top right for me!! :)
Great post! Love your blog. xx
Hi there! Hope you are enjoying your holiday. I've just come across your blog. I am also a lover of vintage beach items and have a beachy blog too. I especially love vintage beachwear and sell it at local markets and on Etsy. These Catalina styles are fantastic. The 1950s was a great era for swimwear! Look forward to reading your blog again.
They look alright on those paper dolls but I dunno. I saw a live, human male in a high-waisted pair of shorty-trunks the other day at the pool. Not so nice. He was fairly fit and all, but the 2" inseam didn't leave enough to the imagination. Thank goodness for the cold water factor.
I agree! I like the first retro man in the fish trunks. Wonderfully fun post!!Many ThanksCindi
