I See a Sea Shell

My sister found this huge sea shell underneath her house. The previous owners had left it buried in the dirt. She generously gave it to me as she thought it would better suit my home than hers. Today I decided to use it for something other than previously intended. As a vase. It sits on the bench really well as the water acts like a weight. I love finding new ways to display flowers.

  3. The shell is so beautiful. The pattern on the outside reminds me of a vintage map.

  4. Love the re-purposing but, makes me wonder what the story is behind burying it under the house; some significant tradition?

  6. Sweet! Elements not normally seen together in nature... but so perfectly suited for each other. The flowers are fleeting, but the shell is forever...

  8. What a beautiful thing to find underneath your house! Heavens! I can't believe that somebody wouldn't use it! When we were renovating our kitchen we found an old burial well under our floor with loads of old china and animal bones. No treasure sadly but lots of history! xx

  9. How nice of the previous residents to bury and age that shell to the perfect weathered look just right for a vintage beach cottage.
