There's something I have to tell you all. I love buying magazines. I have piles and piles of them. I can't stop. Just last weekend I would have purchased eight of them. I justify my addiction by telling myself they are my inspiration, my therapy. I was beginning to think I was all alone with this problem, but maybe I am not?
If you discover the 12-Step Program for this addiction...let me know! Today I was stacking and scooching and shoving them under the sofa...I cannot bare to let them go! Sick, sick sick! (I will not even go into the number of subscriptions I receive!)
ReplyDeletem ^..^
Nope you are not. I buy far too many. I've even tried to limit my number of subscriptions telling myself I can check them out for free (a month later of course, but for my second choice list that would be ok)
ReplyDeleteI have piles and I don't give them away in a timely manner either!
Oh No, You are definately not on your own there !
ReplyDeleteHello Simone, if it makes you feel better I'm a magaholic too! I have piles and piles. I am sadly addicted to expensive, glossy magazines too! I spend more money than I care to confess too on them. My very favourites are British Vogue, Red, Country Living UK, Inside Out, Country Style, Cookie. I have just discovered Peppermint and Frankie to add to my passion. Perhaps we should form an online support group? I even read a Blog about magazines (Girl with a Satchel) Where will it all end?
ReplyDeleteSimone you are not alone, I too am a magaholic!!xx
ReplyDeleteYou are definately not alone!
ReplyDeleteMy problem however is that i impulse buy them, forget i have bought them and then buy another copy! I also tend to just look at the pretty pictures and not read the artilces...bad girl!
You're definitely not alone, however I don't remember ever purchasing eight at once! You're a bad, bad girl!
ReplyDeleteHello Simone. My name is Tiina and I'm shoeaholic, bagaholic, magaholic, cushiolic, and bloggaholic.
ReplyDeleteHello darling and thank you for visiting my cottage, for joining my followers and for leaving kind words behind, much appreciated. You have a lovely blog full of interesting posts and beautiful photos, I will be back on my off day to read some more. I too joined your followers and placed a link to your blog on my beau-TEA-ful friends blog. I am looking forward to our future afternoon tea get-togethers.
ReplyDeleteDuchess xx
oh no - me too..and I can't throw any of them away so I am always looking for sneaky spots to stash them so it doesn't seem as though I have as many :)
ReplyDeleteOh no, you're definitely not alone. Nothing beats the joy of a new magazine! Leigh
ReplyDeleteMy name is Simone and I am also a mag-aholic...it's the name I tell you!!!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE magazines, just love them, love that feeling of new pages and sitting down with them for the first time drinking all that information in....any kind of magazines......I could probably justify buying pretty much any magazines to myself....somehow!!! I am heading for the airport today and already planning what to read.....
It's educational....that's what I tell myself :)
Nah! No problem. I say enjoy them now while you can...soon there could be none left.
ReplyDeleteHi Simone,
ReplyDeleteMy name is Leeann and I am also a magaholic. I love them all no matter what language they are in and even arrive early at the doctor, dentists so that I can read a few beforehand.
Leeann x
Definitely not Simone, I have boxes and trunks full of them, and I think in the past month I have bought as many as you!! I thought blogging would stop me after seeing so many gorgeous photos, but it hasnt at all! You are not alone!
ReplyDeleteSue

ReplyDeleteJoin the club! Great images by the way.
ReplyDeleteOh,i am soooo hearing you!!! I have every single decorator magazine bought in the last 9 years,i spend around $80 a month!!I still go back through them all, each time looking for something different,so i can never chuck them! This time i was looking for tailored curtain inspiration!! My hous eis full of piles everywhere,i must have 1000's! But i still love them and have my faves!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my blog earlier! That cushion you liked is on ebay this week, not my website, that hasnt been updated in years!!!I am too much of a veg to manage myself!
Enjoy your mags!! Lesley : )
I have this addiction too! I have 6 magazine subscriptions and still find more magazines to buy everytime I go to the newsagent ..... my husband no longer tries to stop me, he realises its just part of me, but my son (aged 4) thinks I should be spending my money on something more important .... like Ben 10 stuff. So, I totally love that you share my addiction, it makes me feel better to know I am not alone.
ReplyDeleteGreat images, I can see me in a few of them.. and not the pretty ones. haha. Yes i'm afraid my addiction is quite bad. Sadly a couple of years ago I through out a number of boxes full of interior magazines from the 70's. I now wish I hadn't. So when do our MA meetings start?
ReplyDeleteHaha! I just bought two to read while my son went to a birthday party...any excuse (lol)
ReplyDeleteIrene x
*smile*
ReplyDeleteWhat great photos!
While I'm not a magaholic - I've known several magaholics. You are so not alone.
:)
BBBBAAAHAHAHHA HAHAHAAAAAA HA HA HAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteno, you are not alone. i too am a magaholic..or as i like to call it a magawhore. i stop in the bookstore several times a week and buy everything! and am seriously disappointed when there is nothing new.
Too funny! I got my degree in magazine journalism and my senior year had 10 subscriptions... stacks and stacks of magazined. They are no fun moving from place to place, but I can't part with most of them. :)
ReplyDeleteI confess too. I LOVE magazines. I hide them under my bed so people won't have to see all of them.
ReplyDeleteI am with you 100%! Let's start a support-group online to overcome our magazine addictions. Though you'd think blogs would help, they only increase my craving for more magazines, more inspiration!
ReplyDeleteOh you are certainly not alone. I have this disease too ;) one thing I miss about working in the magazine world is the piles of mags that used to arrive in my mail--all in the name of research! No grocery trip is complete these days without atleast one glossy buy!
ReplyDeleteyou are so not alone! I have tons of them ..sitting collecting dust.. but I read them.. over and over.thats why I keep em! my hubby is so annoyed with them.. he says since they are not books , they cannot sit on the shelves.. they are magazines and they should be tossed after reading! Nooooo , mr, I'd like to last longer!
ReplyDeleteoh and I'm collecting the magazines while they are sold very expensively in Kuwait. we're talking $10 USD for a house beautiful or even a REDBOOK.. yes ! expensive!
i used to buy and collect magazines- a lot of them....then i moved to a country where each issue arrived a bit late- both through the mail and on the store shelves...not to mention they cost about twice what they do in the states.
ReplyDeletethat's what cured my magazine "addiction", lol!
I am sure you are not alone! I'm not addicted to magazines (I'm not much a collector of anything)... but I think I eat to much ice creme! Maybe I should switch!?
ReplyDeleteYou can include me into that club too. I have a real problem. I love magazines and books. I can't go past a newsagent or bookstore without going in and seeing what's new to buy. I can spend a good 2 to 3 hours in Borders looking, touching, dreaming and even smelling the pages.
ReplyDeleteI just got a year subscription to Real Simple for only $5! Ordered it through Amazon.
ReplyDeleteLove magazines too!
I share this with you !!!
ReplyDeleteI love magazines as well...
I convince myself telling me that they are cheaper than books !!!
A cup of tea and a new magazine is my best program ever !!!!
Isabel from Buenos Aires
Hi Simone! I just found your blog on one of my link following adventures and am adding it to my faves! I love anything to do with the beach (I live by the sea myself), and I loved those simple framed shells you did!
ReplyDeletePS. I have the mag addiction too....
Alone? I think not! You should see under my bed, under the guest room bed and the chairs in my living room. All stacked high with my many fabulous magazines. Truly, is there anything better than a new, shiny magazine?
ReplyDeleteLove your blog, and I'm curious what your favorite magazines are...(?)
ReplyDeleteYou're not alone. I have the same problem and I can't throw them out either! I have stacks around the house and boxes of old Victoria issues (that was my all time favorite one) It get's expensive though, doesn't it? Thanks for dropping by my blog.
ReplyDeleteOh, you are so not alone in this. :) Magazines are so great, aren't they? I have tried several times to cut back - letting subscriptions expire, etc., but then I just end up buying them at the store because I can't help myself. LOL I always seem to have a stack waiting. Great pics, too. :)
ReplyDeleteYou are so not alone, girl! I am a magaholic as well. There's just something about those glossy pages *sigh*
ReplyDeleteAnd they ARE cheaper than therapy, methinks.
No, you're not my dear.
ReplyDeleteI share the same addiction. The worst thing about it is that I can never throw them before I have read them at least twice, and then ripped them completely. Then, and only then, I can consider throwing them.
I have loads piling up, and, as I read 4 languages, imagine the piles in my small Paris appartment!
Mademoiselle Fanny
you're not alone, but with me it's a time issue. i'm a great buyer of design magazines with not all the time in the world to read them. they are a definite though for my beach days or sunday mornings, where i take my time a bit at home. for fashion i love "W" magazine too!
ReplyDeleteMe, too!! Have been for my whole life. The good thing is it's a business expense and necessary for me to keep up with all that's going on.
ReplyDeleteOn another note, I left you an award on my new post.
It is a constant battle at my house. I have stacks and stacks of them. I will periodically go through and pull my favorite things out of them to try to reduce the stacks, but then I have stacks and stacks of tear sheets. I've been trying to refrain from buying too many lately. The blog world has helped a bit, but it never fails that I miss something amazing that I would want to keep for inspiration. YOU ARE NOT ALONE!!!!
ReplyDeletexxx kim
You and I are one in the same! I can't resist the temtation of them... it's their adorable covers and amazing inspirational projects within. (whether or not I ever get a chance to recreate the expansive object within Is another story!)
ReplyDeleteBy the number of comments on this post I would say your are certainly not alone on the magazine addiction. I am actually trying to cut back (a bit like any addiction lol) as am running out of room to keep them. Good excuse to find more ornate magazine holders though lol!
ReplyDeletealicia ~ time worn style
So am I!! You should see the stacks in my office!! Getting a scanner soon so I can at least post some of the magazine pictures on my blog!!!
ReplyDeleteHilarious. Love your images! Priceless! A-M xx
ReplyDelete... and there you were, thinking you were alone, simone!
ReplyDeletei thought i was 'bad' in terms of addiction to mags, but wow, some of you guys are shocking! :)
Oh believe me you are not alone! I have sooo many magazines and as much as I resolve to cut back, alas, it never works! Home/fashion are my faves and they too are my inspiration. I love it!!!
ReplyDeleteMaybe we should start a support group for all of us :-)
ReplyDeleteYes!.. me too.
ReplyDeleteI collect so many mags that I have folks playing 'ding-dong-ditch' at my door, leaving grocery bags of mags left in their mist, just to fee my addiction. I do put them to good use with my collage art generally but, I am at a back log.
More than once have filled the entire recycling bin to the top so heavy that I am not strong enough to wheel it to the curb myself!
I am with ya! I cannot go into any type of store that sells magazines without buying at least one...and that is usually at the VERY least. When I go to Barnes and Noble or Borders, I usually come out with at least 8 or 10.
ReplyDeleteIt's a sickness...and I love it! :)
oh Simone I am right there with you, under my desk in cupboards on bookcases & by my bed side table they all sit isnt it great hee!!
ReplyDeleteI am right there with you. We should start a support group :)
ReplyDeleteThe pictures are amazing. I'm addict to magazine too!!
ReplyDeleteI'm with ya sister! Same disease!
ReplyDeleteLove your blog!
Hugs,
Sheila
I am SO with all of you. I've collected all copies of favs, then decided having all those mags was too much and weeded out some, only to then later decide that was a silly thing to do and I began looking for the missing copies again. I've become pretty good at finding accessible but hidden places for ones not currently being reviewed.
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting my blog and by the comment!!! Hope you enjoy it. Kiss
ReplyDeleteAt last count, I was subscribed to 14 of them. You are so not alone.
