We live in an A Frame house. So the walls upstairs are on a slant. It makes it hard to decorate at times. These pictures have inspired me to try some new ideas in my spare bedroom. Which is your favourite? I am gathering ideas and would love some feedback.

  1. I love them all, but #4 is my favorite. I like the mix of colors, textures and prints, but it still has a relaxing feel to it.

  2. I've always loved that first image, but it needs more. Some warmth, like someone actually lives there.

  3. I love them all, but my very favorites are the white ones. It makes the small space look so open and airy.
And to me nothing looks cleaner than blue and white, so I guess the top picture gets my vote!

  4. The second one down from the top is where dreams would be made, I know it!!

  5. My favourite is the second one! I would love to sleep there. If you put a floral wallpaper up and it's girlie, I'm there! It is adorable in a fairy-tale way. I love it! xx

  6. My mother's upstairs has severely slanted walls (actually, it is the roof) and she literally wears a hardhat when she's up there so if she bangs her head, the hat takes the brunt of it and her head is safe! As for decorating, the pictures you posted are really cute. I especially the like the last one with the aqua blue walls. Very beachy!

  7. A room full of Sanderson wallpaper! What a room....Love that old English Country House look.
Good luck with your decorating :)
    Thanks for dropping by too.

  8. I love the blue room with the red and white accents. I've always loved the turquoise/red combo. It's so fresh and fun. My inlaws have a couple of rooms in their upstairs where the ceilings are slanted, too. In fact, I've hit my head on it when getting out of bed. ha!

  9. My fav is the bottom with the blue walls...but mostly it's that color. I lived it two old houses with those half walls upstairs. I think it is very charming and cozy but a challenge to hang on and display, and you can knock yourself out getting into bed!

  10. I adore A-frames and I adore slanted low walls. I just watched this movie called "Knowing" that had the most amazing house. The little boy in the movie had a room that had low slanted walls. I think they are gorgeous.

My favorite is the light colors. Darker colors make the room look smaller so the lighter the better.

Good luck. I'm sure you'll do an amazing job.

  14. I love a slanty roof and miss hugely the house we rented in Melbourne which had all manner of different roof lines. These pictures inspire me too. i think 1 and 3 would be my favourites, but that could be because of the white walls which make them look so calm. The other two look very cosy though!

  15. Hi Simone
    I like photo number one
We have a loft bedroom, our bed is in the middle of the slope shape, I like to be able to sit up in bed without hitting my head, down one side of the wall (low wall) we have a long curtain rod where we hang our clothes, I've hung lace panels in frount of the clothes - you know always on a budget!
Here's a link to a blog post I did on our bedroom - mind you it's not very exciting, just gave me a bit of incentive to do a bit of a revamp up in the loft

I'm sure you'll come up with something wonderful, look forward to seeing what you do

  17. I love the cottagey blue wood walls, but I am partial to anything blue, cottage, and with white accessories. Gorgeous! My bedroom had a slanted ceiling when I was growing up and I loved it! I always felt like ai was safe and snug in that slanting room! Thanks for the memory today!

  18. That is my very favorite look! All we have are ugly vaulted ceilings out here!

  19. I love the picture with the window on the slanted wall. Guess you would HAVE to use curtains that are secured. Great pictures!

  21. Oh my gosh...the A frame rooms look so romantic to me. I love them all, although for some reason at the moment I am really taken with the rustic exposed white beams.
Enjoy your week!! Hugs xOxO, Nerina :)

  22. Love them all...so cozy and romantic...I have always wanted a little room in the attic...some how it reminds me of the movie..Little Women...
I do love the wallpaper...so pretty but the pure white is amazing as well....have fun whatever you decide!

  23. I love all the photos, but the third one is my favorite. I always think white is one of those colors you can either screw up or do incredibly well, and this is definitely a perfect use. :) It unifies everything (of course, you could probably do the same with another color...) which is important when you're dealing with funky angles. I have to admit while I love the clean lines in the other photos, that second photo makes me smile - it sort of looks like grandma's attic.

  24. I love the slants..., as long as they're not "dangerous".

  25. Too hard to pic a favorite but I *do not* like the second one. It gives me the feeling that the window is going to fall out! Ha-ha! But- to each her own! ♥

  26. I like the paint. The wallpaper makes it feel as if the room is about to attack! I love white but the pastel blue looks lovely and I imagine any pastel color would like nice.

  28. they are all good! i especially love the serene simplicity of number one and number two is so deep-forest-magic-cottage-splendid! although it looks a bit set-decorated to me. still, i like it. but they are all quite good.

  29. My father always wanted to put an A-Frame on his property. Personally, the wallpaper would drive me batty (no matter what pattern). I love the painted, exposed structure. Depending on the wood (& the room), whitewashing might work too :-)

  30. I love the third photo...so peaceful and serene!

  32. the walls may not be straight but u have painted panels which u can go by... i like your walls, it adds a lot of character and the way you have arranged the furniture is great.

  33. the photo of the room w/the floral wallpaper, have u ever arranged the bed in the corner of where the two walls meet? I've seen that done.. Its give a different perspective.. Also putting the bed ( other photos)on the wall that is angled? ..

  34. I'd love to have a room like those. I'll pick the third one for sure. It's defenitely my style.
    Which are your ideas?

  37. this post brought back sweet memories - the home of my teenage years had an upstairs with slanting roof also, and I so miss listening to the rain pelt the corro-iron roof. It always sounded like the rain was going to come straight through! Unfortunately, my decorating ideas at the time consisted of blu-tacking posters of Ethan Hawke to my wall, lol. I do remember handing scarves along on of the vertical beams (that ran up the slanty bit of ceiling) to try and create a nook curtain for my bed underneath.

  38. I had an attic bedroom in my last apartment so I understand the decorating challenges of slanted ceilings. However they can be a great deal of fun too! The last photo is my favorite - it looks like a soft and cozy nest, perfect for a bedroom.
