Remember my post earlier this week? I was inspired to do something with some vintage wallpaper swatches I had. I decided to brighten up my old pantry doors in the kitchen. They looked a little boring and needed the "Beach Vintage Treatment".
- Collect some old wallpaper. Cut offs, samples, whatever you can find. Mine are from an old sample book I purchased on Ebay.
- Cut them up to the sizes you want. I didn't measure a thing as all my pieces were the same dimensions. I just made sure I had straight edges.
- Stick them however you want on the surface (I used a clear drying craft glue). I wanted my pieces to be in some kind of straight line or pattern but you can do it however you please. I applied the glue to the outer edges only and made sure the corners of each piece adhered well.
- Don't worry about perfection. My pieces overlap here and there are different sized pieces.
This took me about 2 hours from start to finish. It was so much fun and I love the end result. Wallpaper is easy to wipe down too if a mark appears. Well I am off for my birthday weekend to Byron Bay. I can hear the waves calling me now. Must fly. Have a good one. Simone xx

ReplyDeleteBeautiful!!
ReplyDeleteI've actually been doing something similar with an old dresser in our back sun porch. I just took pretty patterned computer paper and scrapbook paper and began decoupaging it onto the drawers and door. Now I have the top and sides left to do!

WOW that is so great. The pieces all work so well together. What makes it even better is that it is vintage pieces so they have that look that only vintage paper has, Enjoy your weekend, hope you get a chance to go to Bangalow near by as there is great Antique shops there, cheers Katherine

ReplyDeleteLove your new masterpiece.. and love those sample books too. Have a great one! x Julie
wow that turned out really pretty- I have boxes of scrapbook papers to use up and a very plain wooden stair case, so I might see what I can do!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea! I am always going through my grandmother's attic and bringing home her vintage wallpaper. Last year I used it to wrap Christmas presents but I would love to use it like you did as well. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteOh my, how CUTE! It turned out beautifully♥♥ I've watched MANY eBay auctions for Wallpaper books, but they end up getting so $expensive${now I'm thinking it's time to get back over there & starting watching again}.
ReplyDeleteThanks for reminding me of my NEED for Vintage Wallpaper :)
Happy Birthday!!
Great job! It looked fine before but now it looks awesome!!! I think it would work well with old, discontinued fabric books, too. You know the smaller ones that aren't big enough to actually make anything from, except, maybe a patchwork quilt. Anyway, your 'new' doors look just great!
ReplyDeleteTHAT is the prettiest use of wallpaper I have seen in a long time! Just glorious! A-M xx
