~ Death by Fabric ~

I think I will die amongst all of my fabric ! I am addicted to buying it, touching it and stacking it, high, up to the sky! But here are some brand new cotton prints available now in my online store. Sweet little treasures! You are lucky I am letting them go.

~ Monday Mind ~

My Monday mind is filled with tea cups, doileys and ribbon. I opened my kitchen cupboard this morning and sighted all these beauties tucked away in a corner. I thought it would make a nice picture to start the week. Sometimes I find inspiration wherever I turn. What are you thinking about today?

Project Day: Restyling A Straw Hat

I love hats. But most of them I find so commercial, mass produced and plain boring! So I decided to vamp up a straw hat I had lying around. I used a vintage doiley $0.50c, and a vintage tea cosy $1.00, both from thrift stores, for decoration.
  • Take any existing trim off the hat. Remove any excess glue.
  • Spray a small round doiley with some spray adhesive.
  • Position the doiley on the hat making sure you start from the brim and work your way up.
  • Unpick the tea cosy flowers [ you can use any kind of crochet flowers or the like].
  • Sew the flowers and others onto the front of the hat using a needle and thread.
This project took about 25 minutes. It is a really easy way to vamp up an old hat. I guarantee you people will comment on such an unusual and unique creation!
Happy Weekend to you all, see you next week. Simone xx

Grace & Glamour

Who's that girl? She’s the sparkle at the party, pretty in killer heels and not afraid to wear tulle. She’s the girl who wears lipstick to the corner store, dresses to thrill and is captivated by beautiful things.
Ladies, these are the latest images from my friends at Fletcher and Grace [Vintage Inspired Jewellery] and I must say I am smitten by them.
There is nothing better than some bling to make us all feel special.
PS: For a limited time Fletcher & Grace are offering FREE postage if you shop online.

~ Back from Bliss ~

Hi everyone, I am back from my little break. Talk about relaxed and refreshed. Yes, I am! Today I am sharing some new images from around my shop. A new window display which we put together just before I left last week and some other bits and bobs. A bit cute. Also, here are some exciting new items which have just arrived and are for sale in my online store. Super cute floral paper lanterns [$2.95 each] and matching fans [also $2.95 each]. So so cute. Oh sweet cuteness Monday!

~ Out my Front Window ~

Sitting on my sofa this morning I looked up to see my resident pelican sitting on our yellow boat out front [excuse my toes!]. He was basking in the sun. Resting. I thought it might make a nice shot for today's post. You see I am packing my bags and heading to Hamilton Island for a little break. I need to recharge with some Margaritas, poolside. And with no children or husbands accompanying us, I think myself and my girlfriends will be having a slightly good time. Talk soon. Simone xx

~ Tom Tom ~

My neighbour and I share a large wild cherry tomato bush which grows on the boundary of both our properties. Last night I needed some for a salad I was making so I skipped over and grabbed some. The beauty about this bush is we have never watered it, weeded it, sprayed it or really cared at all for it, but every year it continues to produce the most sweetest of tomatoes. As I jumped back over to my house my husband took this photo of me holding them. Yum!
Happy Monday.

Project Day: Hankerchief Tissue Holder

I don't know about you but I am always reaching for tissues in the car. Having a 4 year old doesn't help. There is always something spilling or some kind of mess happening. Tissue boxes are so ugly. I decided to make something pretty. This is so simple. All you need is:
Lay the hanky down with the wrong side facing you. Fold each end in towards the centre. Press.
Sew a straight stitch along each side of the folded hanky.
Grab a handful of tissues and insert them carefully inside.
Done! A pretty way to transport tissues around. It even folds in half if I want to put it in my purse.
Have a fun filled weekend.

~ Thrift Find & Craft ~

Yesterday I found this cute vintage Staffordshire rose dish for $2. A little rough around the edges from overuse. Just the way I like it. I also bought more fabric covered buttons. Heaps of them. I have no idea what I am going to do with them all but I love the way they all look this morning on my dining room table.

~ Off My Chest ~

My mind flows back and forth when I see something that inspires me. Lately I have come across images of drawers that have been recovered and I am thinking how I can put my own touches to a set [that I am yet to get my hands on!]. Happy Monday!

Project Day: Upcycled Cushion Cover

I am always looking for ways to make new cushions. Yesterday I decided to try a quick and easy recover. 15 minutes tops! Here's what you need:
  • A plain cushion and insert [ I bought mine from an op shop for $5].
  • A vintage tea towel [$2.95 from an op shop].
  • Iron on/fusible webbing [ $5 /m Ebay].
Take out the insert. Measure the front section of the cushion [where you would like the feature to be]. Cut out your tea towel to that measurement. Pin the cut piece of tea towel to your fusible webbing. Cut the webbing so you have a piece that is the same dimensions. You should now have 3 pieces [your cover, the cut tea towel piece and the cut webbing piece]. Heat your iron to a fairly high setting. Place the webbing in between the cover and the tea towel piece. Pressing hard and keeping the iron moving slowly, fuse the pieces together.
You now have a new look cushion.
Have a great weekend everybody. Simone xx
