Project Day : New Window Display

Please don't scream but yes we painted this old Singer sewing machine white for our new window display. I wanted to do a window displaying our beautiful fabrics and notions we have for sale. My genius sister had an old Singer machine that was way past it's used by date so she got on the job and smothered it in white paint. What a fabulous job she did. And here is what the window looks like. Sorry for all the reflections in the photo.
Have a great weekend everyone.
Simone xx

  2. Oh wow Simone, that looks wonderful! White sewing machines are going to be showing up all over the world now. Truly they are. If my old singer didn't have such a wonderful original paint job (apparently it was never used by the original owner, so it's colors have stayed vibrant) I'd be painting mine too!

  16. Simone, I did not scream but I must admit at first I was taken aback at the thought of painting a sewing machine.

However, the shock factor didn't last very long. It looks so fabulous for a display. It may as well have a new life and on show...well!!! Well done!

    Have a great weekend.

  17. That looks like the model that my mum had to make all our clothes on in the '60's up until the mid '70's when she went on to buy a new Elna!

  46. Oooohhh! I have a machine just like it only without the power cord and pedal. I bought it for $20 and now I can't even give it away. I think I'll be painting it soon and display it.

  47. I adore your window display and your cheerful fabrics! I don't think I could bring myself to paint an antique Singer machine but I do think I may be looking for other vintage machines that would look good with a fresh coat of paint!!
