How different my home looks in the real world. In a little disarray. Nothing like the beautiful magazine spreads it has been in previous. I wanted to share some reality with you today. Yes. I am normal just like you all. Washing stacked up high. Kitchen untidy. Groceries arrived but yet to be put away. Ironing piling, climbing! Paperwork yet to be completed.
Can you relate?
Can you relate?
Thanks for this. Made my day. I always feel woefully inadequate as my house only ever manages magazine perfection for all of about 5 minutes...
ReplyDeleteHahaha... can totally relate!!! Love your pink mixer by the way. I have the blue version, though not the original bowls, lucky you. :)
ReplyDeleteI love real world! Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteOh thank goodness. I'm like this too.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely I can relate! And my mountain of ironing makes yours look like an anthill!!!

ReplyDeleteCourse not. My home is always picture perfect ;-)
ReplyDeleteI can relate. Though my home has not been photographed for a magazine yet. But just photographing it for my blog makes it look prettier than in real life..always.
ReplyDeleteOh yeah...I can certainly relate. I'm the one that needs 24 hours notice before anyone can come over!
ReplyDeleteyes i can definitely relate to the never ending piles of stuff. the first shot of your home is so cute, but love them all tidy or untidy!
ReplyDeletex
Oh YEAH Simone...i can TOTALLY relate..
ReplyDeletei was just walking around my home cringing at how dreadfully untidy it all is...
i literally have crochet "goodies" ALL OVER the place..
maybe i shall give a good clean at the weekend!!
xx andrea
Oh dear friend...I can soooo relate!
ReplyDeleteYes I think we can all relate, at least your real life pics transform into those gorgeous mag pics...mine dont, lol!
ReplyDeleteI can relate, oh my, how i can relate :)
ReplyDeleteI have the very same one rug as the one in the 1st photo. just had to put it up for sale on Sell simply it no longer fits in my new home. ouch!
It's nice to see a little reality, most of the time in magazines and in the blog world you only see the beautiful, then when you look around your home and see the mess you feel like you must be the worst housekeeper in the world, I need to remind myself that what I am looking at is prettied up stuff not the reality and that everyone else's house probably looks the same day to day
ReplyDeleteoh ya...but when the relatives are enroute...all procrastination stops...and the clean up begins...then it looks great too....
ReplyDeleteoh Ya! We have to live in it too.Great post~Cheers Kim
ReplyDeleteHmmm hate to tell you Simone but your ugly still looks pretty wonderful to me...and I am loving the pettiskirt crumpled on the chair.
ReplyDeleteNice of you to share your 'other side' though but I dont ever think I would describe you as 'normal'...too much fun for that!
Kiss Noises Linda
But the word is 'home' it is not just a house x
ReplyDeleteSnap, only difference is I don't have the lovely befores ha. xx Katherine
ReplyDeleteOf course I can relate! You're too sweet Simone for trying to make us all feel better. xx
ReplyDeleteHaha, thanks for sharing, we had to move out of our house while it's on the market to keep it in magazine condition!
ReplyDeleteSarah
Good on you!!!! Thanks for keeping it real. Yep, can quite easily relate to this. Seems like you are staying put, I am happy for you as you have a lovely home by the water - bliss. ;-)
ReplyDeleteCan I relate? But of course! My life is an ongoing state of chaos! Thanks for sharing Simone :)
ReplyDeleteI can certainly relate to the reality of it all!! I have one of those baskets exactly like yours Simone - Ha! Full of clothes! xx
ReplyDeleteHa Ha Simone - this is what my house looks like AFTER I've cleaned up!!!!
ReplyDeleteGlad to see your home is not always perfect - it is true - sometimes you just want something real. It still looks pretty darn good though!! xxx
ReplyDeleteI linked to this post today - hope that is OK. Just love it so much.
ReplyDeleteSure can relate. You should see my sewing room. On second thoughts, best not : )
ReplyDeleteAhhh totally. Thanks for not being perfect all the time Simone..:)
ReplyDeleteYou are so brave to share just how normal you are!!! Yes... SNAP!!! I am very normal too! Isn't housework a drag! Got to be done though! Dishes, washing, shopping... the reality of life... but it does make those other times (when you are not doing those things) EVEN more special!!!! Cheers to those few moments you get to yourself that are housework free!!!! X
ReplyDeleteOh yes, I can relate and sympathise! Though my house has never been in a magazine.
ReplyDeleteHi simone
ReplyDeleteI relate - relate and relate!
thank you - phew! I am normal too.

Oh Yea! I think it is refreshing to see reality at work. All of us experience reality daily but we really don't like to share that with our friends in blogland. Kinda funny huh???
ReplyDeleteThanks for being real.
melinda
Love it! I think to live in a magazine shoot style home we'd have to ditch the husbands and children, quit work and just clean and tidy up all day. How dull would that be?
ReplyDeleteLove your honesty!
Oh brother! That was a loaded question.....you betcha!
ReplyDeleteIt was so nice to see a reality shot! Thank you for sharing
ReplyDeleteI can totally relate! It feels great to be able to sit and appreciate a beautifully cleaned and styled home, what doesn't feel so great is knowing that when the kids arrive home after school it's all going to end!
ReplyDeleteHa Ha Simone. I can sooo relate.Between renovating, running two businesses, maintaning small hobby farm and extra curricular activities for our 3 children and us.It's got to the stage where when we have a big tidy up and clean , the kids ask "who's coming over?" Jenny
ReplyDeleteAll looks normal to me. x
ReplyDeleteI certainly can, that's why I wrote my book,"How to organize your home in seven easy steps" a little book for working mums x
ReplyDeleteCertainly can, that's why I wrote my book, "How to Organize your Home in Seven Easy Steps" a little book for working mums xx
ReplyDeleteSimone, even your mess is cute. xx
ReplyDeleteLove your honesty Simone! You are such a 'real' blogging friend. Thank you. Pxxx
ReplyDeleteI think anyone who is "normal" can relate!! I'd better get to my dishes...
ReplyDeleteCan I just send you a huge virtual hug and a bottle of french wine...we could share it virtually whilst we both fold laundry and do *real life* stuff!
ReplyDeleteGreat post!!

Hi Simone, I have been a reader of your blog for some time now, it inspires me! I also have a blog on blogspot and my twitter followers read it but i have no clue how to get readers on here, i figured i'd ask you as you have over 2,000 .?. p.s. your pom pom trimmed skirt is beautiful! x
ReplyDeleteToo funny Simone! I know that house..it's just like mine!
ReplyDeleteI Love This! (and you too Simone)
ReplyDeleteFantastic! it's nice to be real :-) x
ReplyDeleteThanks for keeping it real... I always wonder what most of the lovely Homes profiled in the Mags & Decor Books look like hours before the camera crews arrive? *winks* Or days afterwards. *Smiles* Now I don't feel so bad that there are only small portions of this Ole' House that are foofed sufficiently for a Photo Op for Blog Fodder ... *LOL*
ReplyDeleteBlessings from the Arizona Desert... Dawn... The Bohemian
Now that brings a smile to my face:D
ReplyDeleteI had my house looking like a magazine shoot last week for visitors and it was back to "normal" within 24 hours lol.
