Project Day: Sea Quote

Lately I have seen lots of beautiful quotation artworks in embroidery hoops.....but most of the words are embroidered! I am hopeless at this as it takes so long and I just get tired. Here is my little version. I saw this quote last week and just loved it. It needed to go on my wall.

• Grab an embroidery hoop [ I usually pick these up second hand for a dollar or so].
• Insert a vintage doiley and trim to size.
• Grab some embroidery thread, or like me, take apart a thick decorative ribbon.
• Set your words up using the thread, twist to form, on top of the doiley.
• Attach each letter with glue, a glue gun works best.

Hang on wall and admire and inspire yourself everyday!

Spending my Time

Over Easter I spent some time at work and at home. A good balance. At home we live by the tides. I always love coming home and seeing what the tide is doing and whether or not I can squeeze in a swim or a canoe ride with my daughter. Lucky for me I got the chance to do so. Hope you all had a great Easter.

~ Shell Cakes ~

I know they might be a bit crunchy. Hard on the tooth? But my 5 year old thought it was a good idea to make shell cakes. Of course if you ask an adult how to do this, they become baffled but a child can think of how it's done! Just trying to figure out how long to bake them for. Any ideas?

Staring Right at Me

Stop. Look. Beautiful things are right in front of you. That's what happened to me over the weekend. I was sitting in the car waiting for my husband to get a beach permit for our car and I was staring into space, waiting....then I noticed I was staring straight into a gum nut tree which was ablaze with blooms! Nobody else in the car noticed. I had to pick a teeny branch to adorn our table that evening. Such beauty in such a small moment. So I continue to stop.... and look ..... at random.......

One of Those

This week has been one of those weeks. You know the ones. Where everything happens at once. When things seem to drop out of the sky and bump you on the head to see if you are still alive! The days blur into one and before you know it it's Friday. Yes my friends, that's me this week. Doesn't happen often but when it does it happens good.

Meet Bernie

This is Bernie. He has been living with us for two weeks now. You see it was our turn to take home the Prep School Mascot and journal his experiences with us. Most people get him for one night. It just happened to be we got him the day school broke for holidays.........and as my daughter returns to school tomorrow I am sitting here creating the next chapter in his little journal. It's fun.

Project Day: Beach Vintage Tablecloths

Have you ever made you own tablecloths? I have been busy making tablecloths all week. Take a look at the new Beach Vintage Tablecloth range available now. But if you would like to give it a go yourself here's how:

• Measure your table and choose some nice heavy weight cotton fabric. Buy enough for a generous overhang all around.
• Using an iron, press a seam along each edge. Then press another seam by folding the first one over [creating a neat double hem].
• Sew all around your tablecloth in a simple straight stitch, making sure all corners are sewn as in picture #10.
• Now I add my sew on label. You can get your own made up if you want to!
• Finally press the cloth again with the iron & fold neatly for storage.....or use straight away!

Ellie Update

Take a look at poor Ellie. Her brakes are getting adjusted. Poor girl was a bit stiff underneath. Looks very invasive I know. Only a few more things to do and she will be ready for registration. I can't wait!
And this is part of my mother's vintage china collection. She has them all in a cupboard on display, and they never get used. I have never understood this. But I love looking at them anyway.

I am Back...Photo's from Trip

Can there be a more perfect way to spend a week? Not for me my friends. I am back from a week away in Northern NSW at one of my favourite beach towns: Wooli. The locals asked me not to blog about this place too much. It is a well kept secret hideaway that has escaped development and crowds. Lots of people ask "Where is Wooli"... and that's how I like it. Long stretches of beach all to yourself. Lot's of places to have a picnic...with no neighbours.
