Inspired Today By......

Although I can't disclose just yet, my life is changing this year.
I knew 2013 was going to be an eventful year.
And there is lot's more to come.
Can talk more about that next week.
Meanwhile......
I needed some SERIOUS inspiration.
Has anyone seen Kirstie Allsopp's new DVD  "Kirstie's Vintage Home"?
My friends at Roadshow Entertainment sent me a copy last week to review.
So inspiring.
She has the knack for creating beautiful spaces that's for sure!
Take a look at some rooms she has created.
All shown step by step with some great projects in between.
It has my stamp of approval.
Have a great week.

Easy Pom Pom Dress

I purchased this plain cotton white dress online for $14.
I had always intended to add some trim to it.
Just so happens some new Pom Pom trims arrived this week and I just couldn't resist having some fun with them.
I simply sewed the trim on the front of the neckline.
I thought I was done.
But I continued to added some on the bottom hem as well.
Oh help me!
I have always been a sucker for Pom Pom Trims!

Once again we stayed in a beautiful Australian Beach Shack!
Here are a selections of my favourite pictures from our trip.

Wallpapering...has anyone tried solo?

I have wallpapered twice in my entire life.
Once was with my sisters when we did a feature wall for our shop.
The second was a few weeks ago when I decided to redo my daughters room.
Not sure there will a 3rd!
But I am so happy with the result.
I bought the wallpaper from PIP Home online. It's such a lovely print.
The bedside lamp was from an op shop for $1.
I got the side table for $29 & painted it with some left over pink paint.
I also hung a hoola hoop on the wall along with some rose fairy lights.
Have a great weekend.
Simone.

Hello?

Hello anyone out there?
Simone here from Beach Vintage. I need to talk!

The Beach Vintage blog was something I started in 2009 because I was passionate about all things vintage and thrifty and I wanted to share it with others.

Over the past 18 months my life has changed, and so has this blog.
An online fabric business and life's daily chores took over.
I guess we all have to prioritize right?

The blog had almost become a living thing, and I was beginning to despise it.
Can anyone relate?

"Delete it" went through my mind.
"Stop blogging" , yes heard that too.
And here I sit now, today, still not knowing what to do with this little creature I created all those years ago.

So I figure I am going to let things just "happen".
They way they always do in life.
What will happen to BV?
Don't know my lovelies.
xx

What matters to me at Christmas

Hi everyone, before I pop off for a few weeks break I wanted to say a Merry Christmas to all. I hope you all have a wonderful day tomorrow. I will be spending it with family at my home.
As usual there will be lots of laughs and chatter. The way it is meant to be.

I will also be sparing a thought to all those who have lost loved ones this year.
May they find strength to go forward......somehow.

As to me what matters most about Christmas is not the presents under my tree but having the presence of my loved ones close by.

Thanks everyone for your love and support in 2012.
See you in 2013.

Project Day: Fabric Christmas Tree

Create a wonderful Fabric Christmas Tree.
What you need:
Cut your fabric into small rectangles approx 6cm x 4cm (size may depend on the size of your canvas).
Start placing your fabric in curved lines. Start from the bottom, working your way to the top until you have the shape of a tree. When you are happy with the placement, glue each piece down with the hot glue gun.
We used a piece of brown fabric for the trunk and cut out a floral motif for the top of our tree.
Frame your tree by gluing the Ric Rac around the edge.

Have a great weekend.

Project Day: Hanging Pine Cones.

Pine cones always make great Christmas decorations. This weeks project is both simple and lovely.

What you need:

Cut the ribbon into strips approx 40cm long. The quantity you cut will depend on how many pine cones you have. Attach one end of each piece of ribbon to a pine cone with your hot glue gun.

Cut an additional length of ribbon for each pine cone approx 6cm long. Trim the ends diagonally and tie a knot in the centre to create a rustic bow. Glue this to the base of the pine cone to finish off your decoration.

Have a great weekend.
