I took these photo's in a cute bakery (Jackman & McRoss) located in Battery Point Hobart Tasmania. When I got home and really looked at them I realised that the wonderful textures and colours of these sweets reminded me of other things that were not related to cakes. It made me ponder. Do we somehow take inspiration unconsciously from our surrounds?
i absolutely believe we do. how can we not? i just think there are some (us) who realize it and some who don't.

ReplyDeleteO I think so. Further reason to surround our selves with beautiful things.
ReplyDeleteWhen we cook- or when we crave! Interesting comparison!
ReplyDeleteMost definitely!. those are some great shots
ReplyDeleteWhat a great question! During summer we use bright fresh colored veggies and ingredients while in the fall they are russets and deep green. I think you've hit on something!

We absolutely do...color, design and elements. What better place to draw inspiration from?!
ReplyDeleteGREAT pictures, and Yes, I surly do think so.Nature and it's wonders are so beautiful. If we really look, there is inspiration all around us. I thank you for sharing these wonderful pictures, and reminding me to just really see whats around me. have a great week.
ReplyDeletegood question when you look at the similarities shown in those pictures! i wonder...

You know, I think you're right, Simone. And not only do we take inspiration from our surrounds, I think that what we fancy in our surrounds influences our choices. I've never looked at it that way before but I'm sure my love of the Fall season and watching the leaves turn color influenced my love of decorating with gold and russet. Just as my new found admiration and respect for English gardens with cool colors and old roses is now the driving force behind my wanting to redecorate my home in shabby chic pastels! And I think tomorrow I will bake some crumbling cupcakes with white frosting and pink sprinkles!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Simone, for your kind comments on my blog. From my heart it is deeply appreciated.
All the best,
Eileen
I think you may be onto something. I've never thought about it before, but now I'll be on the lookout for the similarities between food and nature.
ReplyDeleteOh, most definitely. Colors, shapes, scents..., we're part of it.
ReplyDeleteI think all manmade creations are inspired by the amazing natural creation we are surrounded by. The possibilities are endless when you really look around!
ReplyDeleteGood point, thanks for sharing

Yes I am convinced we are! Smells, taste and texture must all play a big part in the creative process. It doesn't have to be conscious in my opinion. Lots of food shots from this trip Simone! I am hungry for Tasmanian bakeries now xx
ReplyDeleteABsolutely ... i also think it can influence my mood! x
ReplyDeleteOh nice post!! I sure think we do...
ReplyDeleteI'm sure we are influenced by all our senses even when not consciously aware. Colour has a huge impact on me and it's relationship with emotions is also quite interesting. And if all else fails, it looks yummy!!! x Julie
ReplyDeleteCompletely!! In Portugal we usually say that eyes also eat!... do you have such a saying? Take care,
ReplyDeleteRosa
and then there are those of us who live in less than idyllic settings... our influences are daydreams, memories, short trips, & a plan for tomorrow :-)
ReplyDeleteI forgot to add that I taste tested many of these treats hence my weight gain upon return!
