Guess what I got for my birthday yesterday? A new sewing machine. I have always wanted one. I have limited sewing skills but I am so excited that I have received this little sweetie. My mind is racing on where to start. I must think of a name for her......any suggestions?
winner of the Coastal Living Competition is: #11 Keren from The Cupcake Company. Congrats. Please contact me with your details. Thanks to everyone who entered.
I have named my sewing machine "Sandy" from a suggestion in comments - thanks Curly Pops

Suggestions for names? Violet, Maisie, Sadie, Josephine. Lucky girl! I am dying to sew when I see some of the lovely things people make. I love fabrics as well. I am thinking of buying the new Cath Kidston book, SEW but wondering if I will just let it sit there! Can't wait to see what you make and I hope you had a lovely birthday. xx
ReplyDeleteoh my lucky you! what a lovely pressie. I LOVE LOVE LOVE your wall papered doors too!!!
ReplyDeletewhat a great gift! I know I need a new one!I would name it maybe breezy?I don't know it was just the first thing that came to mind!

ReplyDeleteHow about Sandy?
ReplyDeleteI know it's not very creative, but this is the name that came to mind, "workin' bee". I'm sure you're going to come up with something sweeter for your sweetie!
ReplyDeleteOh Fantastic! - Happy Birthday :)
ReplyDeleteSending a big happy birthday wish your way. Did you get an industrial singer? My dh is bugging me about fixing an old one we have in the basement...I don't know.
ReplyDeleteOh! I have heard just wonderful thins about Singer's - I have limited sewing skills myself, but always wish I was great at it.
ReplyDeleteYou could call her...Melody :)She's a singer after all.
Happy Birthday!!! Enjoy your new sewing machine.. a name... I'm not sure. Something quirky and crafty sounding...
ReplyDeleteAt first I thought that was you peeking through the sewing machine! But no, I bet your new machine is a bit more...modern? I call my machine Pam, after the lovely woman who sold her to me at Spotlight. Maybe you could name yours after another lovely woman in your life, now or in the past. Did you have an aunt or nan who sewed, maybe a neighbour? Let us know what you decide. I'm sure you have lots of lovely sewing adventures ahead of you xo ps oh, Happy Birthday!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteAh wicked! Bertie maybe?! Selina the Sewing Machine? Hmmm... I'm like you - new to sewing. My machine has been collecting dust in its box for years now but I am trying my darn best to make use of it now. Just discovered thread and material at a reasonable price at Shepherd's Bush market so maybe I can stop delaying and get on with making that patchwork quilt that I've always wanted to make now. May need to practise a bit first though... xxx
ReplyDeletePS Happy Birthday!!!!
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday to you :)

I called my very old kenwood mixer Bertha- it always seems like a could name for a machine, though my sewing machines are all anonymous so far- good luck with yours though theres so much you can do now.....
ReplyDeleteVery cool! I would ask the sewing machine what her name is. Seriously. Just ask and whatever name pops into your mind will be her name. That's how I name lots of things in my life.

Or Penelope.
ReplyDeleteI just love that name.

Sue
sooooooo lovely...Happy Birthday and yes yes name her please!!!!! She must have an identity...anything important to me always gets named!
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday! what a wonderful gift...!
ReplyDeleteHi Simone, Happy Birthday! I would say the name would depend on how the sewing is going, it may change with frustration, just joking. To start with its a sewing machine so it has to be a she! I always like names that start with a title like Lady Susan Humbleydoo or include the brand in someway like Mrs Penelope Singeraling. Ladies years ago were always addressed by their status so it suits vintage or vintage inspired treasures I feel, A fun thing to think about, now I can't stop thinking of names, lol, cheers Katherine
ReplyDeleteOh, so jealous! Congrats simone. So excited to see what name you choose!:)
ReplyDeleteVery Happy Birthday, Simone.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fantastic present. Have fun creating.
