I just love Kewpie Dolls. Something about them has stolen my heart. I think it may have something to do with their faces .......what do you think? My Favourite would have to be the Kewpie's in Red Polka Dot Bikini's - available here.

hahahahaha Simone this post is adorable..and so funny and cute. They are just so so Kewpie arent they :)
ReplyDeleteThey are so cute. I love the first one. I covet the ones that you used to get from fairgrounds on sticks and glittery dresses. They are so much sweeter than those Bratz dolls! xx
ReplyDeleteSuch cute Kewpies in the polka dot bikinis
ReplyDeleteAlison
What a cutie pie! Leigh
ReplyDeleteI have very fond and somewhat dim memories of pink tutu-ed kewpies on long canes from the Royal Melbourne Show as a small child. Pity I don't have them anymore (the dolls, I mean not my memory!)....long long gone :)

I see what you mean about the faces - there's a certain element of adorable pet bunny about them.
ReplyDeleteThey are all really cute!! I like the bikini dolls too :-)
ReplyDelete..not when it's standing down the drive wearing nothing but a knitted cap! ;p
ReplyDeleteOh no, I can't resist! This is soooo cute!!
ReplyDeleteHave a nice day darling and good luck for the bag!

ReplyDeleteThey are so cute, I love the polka dot bikinis too!
ReplyDeleteLOL, reminds me of a set of porcelin quints my mom gave me..unfortunately, i don't have them. u would like them.. their arms eventually came off due to the cord that attached them to their bodies.. and they where jointed. the quintuplets were famous back in the 20's here in the States...
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness. I need to get one of these. My youngest boy reminded me of a kewpie doll when he was a baby. He had a little round face, just a bit of blond hair on top,a twinkle in his eye, and always a sweet little smile on his face.
ReplyDeleteHello Simone
ReplyDeleteI quite agree with you, they are so adorable. They look so cheeky, I am starting to collect them too. You have a great selection.
Warm wishes

They are practically irresistible.
Are these an Australian thing? I haven't seen these before...but they are very cute! Like the photos!!! xxx
ReplyDeleteOh these are cute....I have not seen one of these for ages!!!! Hope you are all recovered and getting ready for the BIG Day!
ReplyDeleteAdorable!!!
ReplyDeleteI've never heard of Kewpie dolls, but their name does sound like cutie pie! They are a bit humorous, too, don't you think?!
ReplyDeleteWhen I saw Beach Vintage as your blog I had to stop by. I was just in Miami for Art Basel and miss the beach so much! Miami seems mostly deco, but even that has a vintage feel (especially the hotel we stayed at).
Hi Simone
ReplyDeleteAs soon as I saw the first picture, I thought 'that has to be a kewpie doll!' How adorable they are and I agree with you about the ones in the polka dot bikinis. Too cute!
My mother has an old kewpie doll, from when she was little. It's probably at least 65 years old, maybe even older. She is coming to California after Christmas. I should ask her about it and see if she'll bring it to me.
Are you completely recovered from your surgery? I hope so.
Hugs,
Tamerie
So cute! I love the one in the hat.
ReplyDeleteuh, I think her eyes are scary ... we had a tv program for kids when I was little and the puppets had those big round black eyes. I hade nightmares about 10 years. He he, funny I think. How are you? I have recently moved my blog so please update links :)
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely day!
tiina
They are adorable! The photos almost make them lifelike! I love the third photo, clever shot.

I can't resist it! so cute!
ReplyDeleteYou know--they are all cute but the one with the winter hat is way tooo cute! But someone needs to tell it that it might want more than a hat to wear if it is cold. :)
ReplyDeleteMelinda

Oh my gosh..., how cuuuute. Yes, we adults can still be delighted by dolls!
ReplyDeleteOh, my sister and I used to have tons of Kewpie dolls! I wonder what happened to them? I know my Mom gave our Barbie dolls to poor neighbor children, maybe our Kewpie's went to a good cause too!
ReplyDeleteI love ur blog, simone...was checking cupcake company blog and I had the urge to click ur name...all I can say is beautiful....Kewpies are one of my obsessions...I got 3 adopted ones..lol as large as 6 months old babies, my cousins bought them for me through US ebay, one has green wings, the other got a diaper because he's a boy (got little *tinkle* boy part), and the last, but dear to me is the one who lost it's wings on the back...everytime I look at them, they make me smile...
