Beach Vintage Thanks Romantic Homes

A few months ago I was contacted by the editors of Romantic Homes magazine. They wanted to include my blog in their regular " we love site seeing " column. So if you have the July issue you will see my blog featured. I am extremely flattered. A big thanks to Regan and the folks at Romantic Homes magazine. Although hard to get here in Australia it is a wonderful publication which I enjoy reading. Ready for a great new week ? I am.
a big thanks to Andrea from The Pink Poodle & Paisley from Flights of Whimsy for these images.

Project Day: Vintage Floral Wall

It's no secret I love florals. And it's no secret I like to collect vintage floral paintings and prints. It doesn't matter what sort. So I decided to decorate my spare bedroom wall with some of them this week.
  • The secret to this is to use different sized prints. If the frames don't match that's even better! Most of my pieces were picked up for a few dollars each at thrift stores.
  • Trace around each frame on a piece of paper and stick the paper on the walls so you can arrange them how you would like.
  • Whilst the paper is still up, nail your hook in [ this will make sure they all line up and are centered].
  • Remove the paper from the walls and hang your pictures up.
This method of hanging is so easy to do and bypasses the need for any measuring with tapes and the like. I can't stand all that.
Boy what a week. Next week I can share some of my exciting news with you so please stay tuned! Meanwhile enjoy your weekend. Simone xx

Vintage Plates - from The Heart

Lately I have been drawn to vintage plates that have been monogrammed or messaged in some way. I picked up the ones shown today at various thrift stores {for a few dollars each}.
In a world where sometimes it feels like no-one has time to think about or thank their loved ones, I adore the thought of these beautiful plates which would have been given to such important people in our lives. Let's hope this inspires us all to remember the special people who surround us.

Project Day: Vintage Sheets Recover a Modern Sofa

In my previous life I owned a modern slim lined green sofa. It seemed to follow me everywhere I went. Since we purchased our house 2 years ago it has been feeling a little out of place. I wanted to get rid of it, replace with something more 'beachy'. I have tried a few things to hide it's modern appeal but to no avail. Alas, until today. It took the right mix of vintage sheets to give this poor sofa a new lease on life and give it belonging to it's surrounds:
  • I used 2 vintage sheets {$3.00 each} and 1 tablecloth {pink check}.
  • I cut {eek! } the vintage pink floral sheet in half for the side arms. I simply tucked the sides deep into the sofa.
  • For the back I used a vintage white single bed sheet. Again I tucked the sheet deep into the sofa, into the folds.
  • For the main seat I used a pink check tablecloth {another thrift store find}. I didn't cut this one as I may need to use it again one day soon! I simply tucked it all in once again.
Add a few pillows and I was done. So now we are all happy and the poor sofa can stay a little longer. Have a super weekend. Stay safe. Simone xx

~ Unframed Floral Beauties ~

I often find these when I go thrift shopping. Little hand painted floral art works. Completed by amateur artists, aspiring painters and the like. Most people pass them by as they are unframed or on bare canvas or they just plain don't know what to do with them. But I adore them. And at only a few dollars each they can really make for beautiful table scapes.
