Today would have to be one of my favourite days of the year. The first day of Spring. It's the season of me [ that's what I call it anyway ]. I woke this morning with a smile. Winter is over! Yesterday I went to my local flower farm for some roses, but they were out! Oh my! So guess what I bought instead? Four bunches of Gladioli. So today, a beautiful day, my house is filled with them. Happy Spring everyone.
It is one of the best days of the year isn't it? Happy Spring! x
ReplyDeleteThe end of August is always a celebration for those of us who live in Phoenix - we survived another punishing summer. Happy Spring to you. I love having gladious in my house - such a dramatic stalk and they just keep flowering. Lovely.

ReplyDeleteMy sentiments exactly Simone! Except instead of Gladies I have snapdragons...too perfect...and the children like to make them snap too...entertaining as well as pretty.

Simone I adore gladies. When I was working in Melbourne for many years the rat race got to me and I took a year off. I went and worked on a flower farm in Country Victoria and loved every minute of it. They specalised in gladies and lilly's I bought them home every chance I could. Love seeing them in your home. Sandy x

The perfect spring flower...(summer, fall and winter, too) Glads are among my faves...
ReplyDeleteImagine 15 large bouquets of orange glads...that was in my closet before my son's wedding. These beauties arrived (a day late!) looking like dried out stems...and the wedding was only 3 days away. I was told to put them in water and tuck them into a closet and the blooms would appear. Friday evening, they literally BURST into bloom and by Sat morning, they were perfect. Oh...so BEAUTIFUL!
Happy spring to you!
Jane (artfully graced)
It seems so funny that you are starting Spring and we'll be starting fall on the 23rd.
ReplyDeleteHave an enjoyable day!
Melinda
My favourite time of year too Simone and it is my birthday tomorrow, I always think I am so lucky to celebrate it at the beginning of Spring. I am going op shopping with my daughter and having lunch at the market, might just treat myself to some gladis too, they are gorgeous and love the jugs you have put them in EJOY xxxx
ReplyDeleteI love glads. The first year in our house I planted a whole bunch... not very many came up though. I've tried again but haven't been very successful.
ReplyDeleteIt's so strange to see things in an "opposite season".
Chris
As you are just saying hello to your first spring flowers, I'm saying good bye to my first autumn bouquet. I'll have to run out to the farm & cut some more! Isn't it beautiful to have fresh cut flowers? I do love a home filled with flowers!
